Evan

Just because I like this picture.....

Playin' Catch

Cohen and Jeremy were playing catch--Cohen ALWAYS wants to play catch. He jumps out of the car as soon as we get home and grabs his glove. EVERY. DAY! If no one can play with him, he tosses it up to himself and catches it!
On this particular day, Jeremy was available to play and he was throwing it to Cohen. Well, Cohen missed the ball and it hit him in the foot!
Jeremy goes to check on him and right behind him is Cooper. He is on the way to check out the scene. He doesn't like for anyone to get hurt.
All is well......back to catching!

Precious...

....silly, messy, loving Cooper!

Yummy Summer Corn

While shopping at Publix I passed a BIG pile of fresh summer corn in the husks! I didn't really think they would like eating it because, afterall it is a vegetable (gasp, how could they possibly eat a veggie), but I thought they would have fun helping me shuck it. After his nap, Evan loved helping. The other boys wouldn't get up to help, but they missed all the fun.

And to my surprise...oh how they all loved eating it. I must admit......it was DELICIOUS! It was our first time cooking it. I smeared olive oil on it, wrapped it in foil, and Jeremy grilled it on the grill. SO YUMMY! We will be doing it again soon, for sure!

Making Daddy and Mommy's relatives from Illinois proud........

Happy Mother's Day to me...

I am so BLESSED to be a mom. I am not perfect, but I try everyday to be the best mom I can be. The days sometimes drag on and on, but the years, oh how they fly by!

I would not be the woman I am today had it not been for becoming a mother. I have learned patience, how to give someone something that I wanted to keep for myself, how to stay calm in situations where I want to cry and scream, and how to mend boo-boos that seem critical enough for a hospital visit.

I have learned how to take someone's temperature in a not so pleasant spot, and how to talk someone into doing something they refuse to do! I have learned how to love someone UNCONDITIONALLY-even when they REALLY don't deserve love at the moment!

I have learned how to forgive. I have learned how to dance with three men at one time so none of them get jealous of the other! I know how to push someone really high on a swing and slow them down quickly when they get scared!

All this...I never knew until I became a mommy. I can't wait to learn more!!

Three boys! Amy Day has 3 boys! I never thought in a million years I would have three boys! But it is wonderful! I love them deeply!

God truly blessed my with the PERFECT children! I love them with all my heart and promise them I will do my best everyday to help them become wonderful, caring, God loving, unselfish, men.

Cohen-You are my first born. You taught me everything I know about bringing home a baby for the first time. We have weathered the storm together! I have made may mistakes, but you have always forgiven me and keep smiling and being silly! You are so smart and so brave! I must be doing something right because in 6 short years you have really become a sweet, smart, and caring boy!

Evan-You are my drama boy!!! You, my love, keep me busy! You have taught me how to "go with the flow." If ever I make a plan for the day, you change it! I love how you make up your mind about something and stick with your opinion! Some people call this stubbornness, but not me!! You are my strong willed child and I admire that about you. I love that you are so dramatic and show your emotions so vividly! You show your love just as vividly as you show your anger! You my "good boy" Evan are perfect!

Cooper-You are my precious baby! I was not expecting your arrival, but God knew what I needed more than I did. I could not have hand picked a more perfect addition to our family. Everyone who meets you falls in love instantly. Your sweet, little smile, and messy, blond curls capture their heart in a moment. You have to be the sweetest baby on the planet!! Those slobbery kisses are to die for and I will always cherish having to wipe away the drool after one of them! The way you love to cuddle and rock still makes my heart skip a beat!

I love you all very much and I LOVE being your mom more than anything I have ever done!

Just an ordinary day.....

Until.......

We headed out to water the newly planted flowers. After they helped me water the plants (or in other words, squirted me and each other with the hose) the boys spotted a caterpillar. Luckily, for the caterpillar, they were more interested in watching him instead of squishing him like they usually do. They were very intently watching it crawl by on the grass.......
When all of a sudden, they hear a familiar, high-pitched music. Their heads perk up when they realize....IT'S THE ICE-CREAM MAN!!!!!--or lady in our case.

Of course some screaming, clapping and dancing follows so I run in to get my money! After several minutes of trying to decide which ice-cream they want (there were like 30 pictures of ice-creams that were very distracting to the decision making) they finally decided on rocket pops!! YAY!

Cooper eats his in three big bites causing a brain freeze that was cured by putting his sticky, blue and red head in mommy's lap!
Evan wants to slowly "yick" his causing it to drip all over him. We had to remove the white shirt he was wearing. Slowly, slowly, slowly he licks his rocket pop.
And now.........we need baths!

Bubba and Daddy were at baseball practice and we didn't tell them! Shhhhhh!

We LOVE warm spring afternoons!

Warning....this post makes me cry...it might make you, too!

Many nights, well most nights, I count down the minutes until bedtime.....I know, it sounds horrible even as I type it, but it's true. The weekends are a different story. But during the week when I have worked all day and Jeremy is working late (until 11:00) and I am home alone with the boys and they are tired from their day and screaming at the top of their lungs because someone took their toy and I am trying to get dinner cooked and on the table and cleaned up before giving them a bath, reading them a book and helping them do homework or wind down, and I am about to scream.....well, I watch the clock and sometimes we head to bed even before 7:00. (Yes, I know that is a RRRUUUUNNNNN on sentence, but it proves my point--I am TIRED AND STRESSED on weekday nights!)

But sometimes........

They surprise me with the sweetest night ever. Like tonight....

Yes, I worked today, and yes I had to cook dinner and clean and all those other things, but tonight......

Tonight, they were the best! I cried and cried after I laid them down because I realized they are growing up too fast and I can't remember everything they do and say and it made me sad. I want to remember it all. This old brain just can't do it! I will just have to remember the special times like we had tonight.

Cooper found these pieces to a box that looked very much like long train cars. He kept putting them end to end and was just in awe that they looked like a train. He would call "mama, mama, come yook, come yook." He would lay on his belly on the floor in front of the train and his mouth would fall open with an "awwww" sound every time. EVERY TIME! Like it was the first amazing time he had seen it---even the 15th time! I would lay on my belly beside him and he just smiled the most beautiful contented smile ever.

I would get up because, after all, Evan was calling "mama, mama, help me" and I would head to the bathroom to help him potty.

Coop would come running and grab my hand in his precious chubby hand and pull me to "come yook" and would be amazed all over again at his train. He would lay down, pat the floor for me to lay beside him, and wait for me to be amazed too.....which of course I pretended to be every time...even the 15th time!

I was absolutely in love with his excitement and joy of those silly boxes. I would just kiss him all over his face every time. I couldn't get enough of him tonight. I know that he has to grow and change, but I just don't want him to. I'm NOT READY! I'm not ready for any of them to. I want them to stay little forever. I know it can't be, but for now.....I'm refusing to let them grow.

So tonight, instead of counting down the minutes until bedtime, I am counting down the minutes till morning when I can kiss, squeeze, and hug them again.

**I didn't get any pictures of the train cars or of Coop's sweet face in amazement. I was too busy enjoying the moment to grab the camera, but I plan to tomorrow!

Tomorrow: And here's his train (drool and all).......
